I'm originally from Northfield, Minnesota. As an undergraduate, I studied French and East Asian studies at the University of Minnesota. After teaching English in Beijing and traveling around East Asia, I did graduate work in modern Chinese literature at the University of Colorado and UCLA.
In my leisure time, I enjoy reading, traveling, movies, music, and cycling as well as fine food in the company of good friends. I'm also quite fond of animals, especially cats.
